Frequently Asked Questions About Our Training

How does mindfulness help to alleviate your problems or stresses?

Mindfulness gives us the trained ability to take a step back before we engage a stress reaction and choose a different response. It is very difficult to eliminate stress in life but over time we build a better way to relate to it.

Is a mindfulness practice and the promised results really accessible to normal folk or does it take super-human dedication over years to achieve?

It is absolutely achievable for anyone. The minimum of 20 minutes a day is not asking too much. The caveat is that those 20 minutes must be an absolutely top quality block of time, where we give everything to the work.

How do we incorporate a state of mindfulness consistently into our busy everyday lives?

The proof of our investment in formal seated meditation is that it should be playing out in daily life, with all it ups and downs. Practicing mindfulness through the day is a matter of systematically letting go of thoughts and re-setting on the ones we want and know to be high value.

Does Mindfulness work, or is it just another fad being hyped?

The roots of mindfulness practices are quite literally lost in time. Every religious and spiritual tradition has an element of mindfulness contained within it. The fact that mindfulness is still relevant and valuable to human beings speaks of its timeless efficacy.

Will practising Mindfulness create a positive long-term effect?

If it is practiced consistently then yes absolutely… in fact the effects will compound and deepen over time.   It is however a perishable skill and for the effects to accrue we must maintain our practice.

What is the difference between mindfulness and meditation?

Mindfulness is where we remain completely situated in the witness consciousness, simply remaining aware. Meditation is where we may focus on a very specific thing, the breath, a word or a visualisation.

Can mindfulness be used in the workplace?

The workplace is a fantastic place to develop mindfulness. By simply remaining aware we are automatically more calm. By being calmer we are more efficient and more effective. Over time mindfulness can help us go beyond pre-conceived limitations and into new and more fulfilling work environments.

How do we get started?

Simply make a time to practice and commit. There is no need to make it any more complicated than that. We have so much to benefit from and absolutely nothing to lose. Sit somewhere quiet and for 20 minutes or more simply observe the mind and body without engaging in the comments the mind constantly makes. The online Quantum Mindfulness course is a great place to begin learning the practical techniques and benefits.

How do we build and maintain this as a daily habit?

For the first few weeks we need to ensure consistency with effort and discipline. After we taste the fruits of our practice the effort begins to taper off. If our relationship to meditation is well constructed effort is replaced with enjoyment and it becomes an essential part of the day.

How many hours per week are involved in the online course?

The videos for each module will take a maximum of 45 minutes to watch (some modules are shorter) then there is also an audio meditation for each week of 15-20 minutes long.  The recommendation is to watch the videos and listen to the audio at least once, followed by a few days practising each technique. 20 minutes per day is recommended.

Remember, when you join Quantum Mindfulness you will have access to the program for an indefinite time.  So although the program is structured into 6 ‘Weeks’ or ‘Modules’, you can work through it over a longer timeframe to suit you. You can also revisit and review the modules as many times as you wish.  It's an entirely practical program which is really enjoyable and fascinating, there's no written element other than taking your own notes.
